It has been five months since the High Museum opened the doors to its acclaimed $124 million expansion, and already there are plans to build on architect Renzo Piano’s vision of a lively, pedestrian- friendly “village for the arts.”
This is Midtown Atlanta, after all, where the construction never stops.

Groovy 1969 soireé at the Woodruff Arts Center. At that time it was known as the Memorial Arts Center, as a tribute to the victims of the 1962 Orly plane crash that killed some of Atlanta’s most prominent art patrons.
The walls will come tumbling down at the Woodruff Art Center’s Memorial Arts Building on Tuesday, as work begins on remaking the austere 26-year-old facility into a more inviting Midtown presence.
