Looking north on West Peachtree St toward Pershing Point - late ’70s vs now. A fine, if grungy, collection of early 20th century apartment buildings replaced by blank walls and grass. Way to go!
The northeast corner of West Peachtree St at 17th Street in what I assume was the late ’70s/early ’80s. The source of this photo has a really great collection of images from Atlanta’s punk scene.
The Belvedere House apartments were constructed in 1919. The 1910s/1920s seem to have been a golden age for apartment design in Atlanta - love the balcony detail.

“37-story tower of apartments set for Midtown” (2000)
A third tower will rise in Midtown on the corner opposite One Atlantic Center. A Dallas developer plans to start construction this fall on a 37- story, 420-foot apartment tower on the southwest corner of 14th and West Peachtree streets. Genesis Real Estate Group hopes to complete the apartment tower and a 1,001-car parking garage by March 2002.
